HubSpot vs Pipedrive: which CRM should your sales team run on?

Every plan, limit and price, read from each vendor's own pages on 29 September 2026: interface, automation, webhooks, API, integrations, AI, security, support and year-one cost at 5 and 15 seats.

The short version
Isometric illustration with the HubSpot logo above the left structure and the Pipedrive logo above the right one. On the left, taupe rooms connected by orange spoke bridges to one round orange central hub. On the right, a long green conveyor carrying crates through a row of stations. Between them a small figure in a navy suit holds up one blue card, looking from one to the other.
Same floor, two different buildings. HubSpot is a set of hubs around one central database; Pipedrive is one sales pipeline, built to be read at a glance. Most of what follows comes back to that difference.

HubSpot and Pipedrive both run a sales pipeline well. Where they differ is everything around the pipeline: how far each one stretches, which plan unlocks what, and what you pay in year one. This page compares every part of both products that a sales team will actually touch, at the plan where it becomes available, from each vendor's own documents.

The short version

  1. HubSpot is a platform of connected hubs (sales, marketing, service, data, revenue) on one database. Pipedrive is one sales CRM built around the pipeline. That difference explains most of the rows below.
  2. Pipedrive costs less at every tier compared. For 15 people on the mid tier, year one is €10,620 on Pipedrive Premium and €17,670 on HubSpot Sales Hub Professional, which includes HubSpot's required €1,470 onboarding fee. List prices, annual billing, before VAT, read on 29 September 2026.
  3. HubSpot goes further where a team outgrows a basic CRM: custom objects on Enterprise, code and AI steps inside workflows, signed webhooks, 2,000+ integrations, and native LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Stripe and Xero connections.
  4. Pipedrive includes on every plan things HubSpot puts behind a higher tier: SSO, unlimited pipelines, duplicate merging, and its Nova meeting assistant (briefs, recording, transcripts, drafted CRM updates).
  5. Each one has limits that bite. Pipedrive caps active leads and deals per seat and custom fields per company. HubSpot puts sequences, forecasting, duplicate management and round-robin routing at Professional, and custom objects at Enterprise.

How this comparison was made

Every figure on this page was read on 29 September 2026 from a page the vendor itself publishes: pricing pages and price calculators, plan comparison tables, help-centre articles, developer documentation, trust pages and app store listings. Each table links the documents it came from, and the full list is at the bottom.

Salestruct isn't a partner, reseller or affiliate of either company, and nothing here is sponsored. We build sales systems on both, which is why the comparison is written around what a sales team does all week rather than around feature counts.

Four things to know before you read the numbers:

  • Prices are in euros. Both pricing pages showed EUR to a visitor in the EU and offered no dollar switch. All prices exclude VAT and assume annual billing unless a row says otherwise.
  • Plans compared. HubSpot Sales Hub Free, Starter, Professional and Enterprise. Pipedrive Lite, Growth, Premium and Ultimate, the plans Pipedrive sells today.
  • Pipedrive's help centre still uses old plan names in places. Some articles say "Advanced" or "Professional" for what the current plan table calls Growth and Premium. Where they disagree, this page follows the plan table on Pipedrive's pricing page.
  • "Not published" means we looked and the vendor doesn't say. It's a finding, not a gap we forgot to fill.
  • Logos. HubSpot and Pipedrive names and logos are trademarks of their owners, shown only to identify the products. No affiliation or endorsement is implied.

What is the difference between HubSpot and Pipedrive?

HubSpot is a customer platform: separate products (Sales Hub, Marketing Hub, Service Hub, Content Hub, Data Hub, Revenue Hub) sold per seat on one shared CRM database. Pipedrive is a single sales CRM, with a handful of add-ons, built around a visual deal pipeline.

That shapes almost everything. HubSpot can hold your marketing emails, website, service tickets and invoices on the same records as your deals, and several sales-adjacent features live in hubs other than Sales Hub. Pipedrive does less outside sales, and most of what it does is in the one product at a single price per seat.

The companies are different sizes too. HubSpot describes itself as founded in 2006, with 9,000+ employees and 306,000 customers. Pipedrive says it started in 2010 in Estonia, has 850+ people across eight countries, and is trusted by 100,000+ companies in 179 countries.

How much does HubSpot cost compared to Pipedrive?

Pipedrive is cheaper at every tier, and the gap widens as you move up, because HubSpot's Professional and Enterprise plans carry a required one-time onboarding fee that Pipedrive doesn't charge.

List prices before VAT, read from each vendor's pricing page and HubSpot's price calculator on 29 September 2026. HubSpot Starter is shown at the discounted €7 a seat a month the calculator quoted; at its €20 list price, year one is €1,200 for 5 seats and €3,600 for 15. Pipedrive Growth, between Lite and Premium, would be €2,340 and €7,020. Each panel has its own scale.

Read from: HubSpot price calculator · Pipedrive pricing.

The onboarding fee is a year-one cost only, so the gap narrows in year two: 15 Professional seats are then €16,200 a year against €10,620 for 15 on Premium.

Three pricing details the comparison pages don't usually mention:

  • HubSpot's Starter price is a discount with no stated end. The calculator showed €84 a seat a year with €240 struck through, and the pricing page publishes no duration or renewal terms for the lower price. Budget for €240 unless your quote says otherwise.
  • Professional is annual even when you pay monthly. HubSpot's monthly option for Professional is labelled "Commit annually". Pipedrive's monthly billing has no commitment on any plan.
  • Pipedrive's caps grow with seats. Active leads and deals, and API capacity, are both multiplied by your seat count, so a plan can be enough for 15 people and too small for 3. Details in the data section below.
Isometric illustration of two stacks of blocks on a plinth, the HubSpot logo above the left one and the Pipedrive logo above the right. The left stack rests on a wide orange slab. The right stack has green crates bolted onto its sides, and one blue block in its middle. A figure on a stepladder holds a measuring rod against the stacks.
Two stacks that end up a similar height, built differently. HubSpot's cost has a heavy one-time base from Professional up. Pipedrive's is lighter at the base, with add-ons bolted on below Premium.

How do the interfaces compare?

Both are browser apps with native iPhone and Android apps, and both let you work a pipeline as cards on a board. The difference is emphasis: Pipedrive opens on the pipeline, while HubSpot gives every object a table view and adds a board view to objects that have pipelines.

Neither vendor publishes a usability measure, so "easier to use" isn't something this page can settle. The app store ratings are the one public signal from users, and on iPhone the gap is wide: HubSpot's app is rated a full point higher, from more than twenty times as many ratings.

How do their data models and limits compare?

HubSpot gives you more room per object and, on Enterprise, lets you build new objects. Pipedrive is less generous with fields but more generous with pipelines, and it caps how many leads and deals can be open at once.

Read from: HubSpot Product & Services Catalog · HubSpot pipelines and conditional stage properties · Pipedrive usage limits · Pipedrive plan features · Pipedrive required fields · Pipedrive data fields.

The Pipedrive cap to model before you buy is the leads-and-deals one, because it's per seat. Three people on Lite get 7,500 active leads and deals between them. A team that imports a large prospect list into the Leads Inbox can reach that on day one. Pipedrive introduced this limit on 29 May 2025 in place of its old open-deals limit, so older comparisons describe a cap that no longer exists.

One caution on required fields, which applies to both: a required field only protects data a person enters by hand. Pipedrive says so plainly, and HubSpot's conditional stage properties trigger when a user creates or moves a record manually. If your leads arrive through an import or an integration, validate them there too.

Which has better automation?

HubSpot's automation goes deeper: more workflows, code and AI steps, and webhook actions. Pipedrive's is simpler and cheaper to reach, and it caps how complex each automation can get.

Two things are easy to miss here. HubSpot Starter isn't automation-free: HubSpot's own plan table gives it up to 50 workflows with restricted triggers and actions, even though the main workflows help article lists only Professional and Enterprise. And the webhook and custom code actions aren't part of Sales Hub at all. They need a Data Hub Professional or Enterprise subscription, which is an extra line on the invoice.

On Pipedrive, what's missing from the action list matters as much as what's in it. There's no code step and no AI step, so anything the list doesn't cover has to go out through a webhook or an integration to a tool like n8n, Make or Zapier.

How do HubSpot and Pipedrive webhooks compare?

Both send webhooks on every plan through their developer platforms. HubSpot signs its webhook requests so your server can prove they came from HubSpot; Pipedrive documents exactly how it retries a failed delivery. Each one publishes what the other one doesn't.

If you build on Pipedrive webhooks, the ban rule is the one to design around. An endpoint that goes down for a deploy can collect ten failures quickly, and events sent during the 30-minute ban aren't retried. Anything that must not be missed, like a new inbound lead, needs a scheduled check against the API as a backstop.

How do their APIs compare?

Both have full REST APIs on their cheapest plans. The real difference is how usage is counted: HubSpot limits requests per 10 seconds and per day by plan, while Pipedrive gives each company a daily token budget that grows with seats, and charges each endpoint a different number of tokens.

To make the two models comparable, take a 15-seat team. On HubSpot Professional the account gets 625,000 calls a day whatever the seat count. On Pipedrive Premium it gets 150,000 × 15 = 2,250,000 tokens a day, which is about 1,125,000 single-record reads or about 112,500 list calls. So Pipedrive is more generous for integrations that read records one at a time, and tighter for ones that page through lists or search a lot.

Which has more integrations?

HubSpot has the bigger marketplace and more first-party connections. Pipedrive covers the everyday tools directly and leans on third-party apps for the rest.

Isometric illustration of two machine cabinets facing each other, the HubSpot logo above the left and the Pipedrive logo above the right. The left cabinet has a large dense socket panel with many orange cables running to devices; the right has a smaller panel with green cables. Both have a connector panel. HubSpot's is bigger and more of its sockets are wired by HubSpot itself. What matters is whether the two or three tools your team lives in plug in directly.

Where each one is weaker

Every product loses somewhere. These are the limits each vendor's own documents show, stated with the same weight as the strengths above.

HubSpot's weak points

  • It costs more at every tier compared, and Professional and Enterprise carry a required onboarding fee of €1,470 or €3,420.
  • The big jump is at Professional. Sequences, forecasting, duplicate management, round-robin routing and SSO all start there.
  • Custom objects, custom permission sets and field-level permissions are Enterprise only.
  • Several sales-adjacent features sit in other hubs: webhook and code steps in Data Hub, quotes in Revenue Hub, WhatsApp in Marketing or Service Hub.
  • Most AI runs on credits that reset monthly, and the Starter discount has no published end date.
  • Webhook retry behaviour isn't published.

Pipedrive's weak points

  • There's no free plan, only a 14-day trial.
  • Custom fields are capped per company, at 30 on Lite and 100 on Growth.
  • Active leads and deals are capped per seat, which a small team importing large lists can hit.
  • There are no custom objects, and no code or AI step inside automations.
  • Required fields are bypassed by imports, bulk edits, the API, automations and integrations.
  • Webhooks aren't signed, there are 40 per user, and events sent while a webhook is banned are lost.
  • The marketplace is a quarter of HubSpot's size. Outlook's sidebar add-in, Stripe and Xero come from third parties, and there's no Sales Navigator app.
  • The audit log and security rules are Ultimate only.
  • The iPhone app is rated 3.7.

HubSpot or Pipedrive: which should you choose?

Choose by the situation you're in, not by the longer feature list. Here's how the evidence above falls for the most common ones.

If your team...Lean towardsBecause
Sells from a pipeline and needs reps using the CRM this weekPipedrive Growth or PremiumPipeline-first screen, lower price, no onboarding fee, monthly billing without commitment

If the table points both ways, the question underneath is usually whether your sales process is settled. A CRM makes a clear process faster and makes an unclear one louder.

Common questions

Yes, at every tier compared on 29 September 2026. On annual billing, Pipedrive runs €14 to €79 a seat a month. HubSpot Sales Hub runs €20 (shown discounted to €7) on Starter, €90 on Professional and €150 on Enterprise, and Professional and Enterprise add a required onboarding fee of €1,470 or €3,420. For 15 people on the mid tier, year one is €10,620 on Pipedrive Premium and €17,670 on HubSpot Professional.
Neither is better overall. HubSpot is better for teams that need marketing, service or custom objects on the same database, deep automation with code and AI steps, signed webhooks, or native LinkedIn Sales Navigator. Pipedrive is better value for a sales team that works from a pipeline and wants routing, required fields and sequences without paying for Professional-tier HubSpot.
No. Pipedrive offers a 14-day free trial with no card needed. HubSpot has free tools for up to 2 users.
Yes, on Sales Hub Professional and Enterprise. HubSpot's pricing page lists a required, one-time Professional Onboarding fee of €1,470 and Enterprise Onboarding fee of €3,420. Starter has none, and Pipedrive charges none.
HubSpot's goes further: up to 300 workflows on Professional and 1,000 on Enterprise, with AI actions and, with Data Hub, webhook and custom code actions. Pipedrive's starts on Growth with 50 active automations (150 on Premium, 250 on Ultimate) and a fixed list of actions with no code or AI step.
No. Pipedrive extends its standard objects (leads, deals, people, organisations, products) with custom fields: 30 per company on Lite, 100 on Growth, 300 on Premium and 500 on Ultimate. HubSpot supports custom objects on Enterprise, up to 10 definitions and 1,000,000 records.
HubSpot private apps get 100 requests per 10 seconds on Free and Starter and 190 on Professional and Enterprise, with 250,000, 625,000 and 1,000,000 calls a day respectively. Pipedrive gives each company a daily token budget of 30,000 × a plan multiplier (1, 2, 5 or 7) × paid seats, and each endpoint costs a set number of tokens, such as 2 for a single-record read and 40 for a search.
Pipedrive retries 3 times, after 3, 30 and 150 seconds, bans a webhook for 30 minutes after 10 failed first attempts, and deletes it after 3 days without a successful delivery. HubSpot doesn't publish its retry policy, but it signs its webhook requests so you can verify them, which Pipedrive doesn't.
